In front of the Thumb is a rock formation a number of people call "The Castle".
It's a cluster of basaltic columns that cooled back when this bit of coast was above sea level. The columns are broken at different heights.
The top is a favorite spot to sit and watch the surf or sunset, read, have a beer, make out....
